Popular Punjabi singer and rapper Sidhu Moose Wala, who joined Congress ahead of Punjab’s elections, was shot dead.

Moose Wala had contested Mansa’s assembly elections on a convention ticket. He was made by Dr. Defeated Vijay Singla of AAP by a margin of 63,323 votes. Muse Wala, a resident of Musa village in Mansa district, joined the congress last November with much fanfare. After Congress gave him a ticket to the Mansa Assembly constituency, then-Mansa MLA Nazar Singh Manshahia had rebelled against the party and said he would oppose the controversial singer’s candidacy.

Popular singer and convention leader Sidhu Moose Wala was shot dead in Punjab on Sunday. The Punjabi singer was on his way to his village in Mansa when unidentified gunmen rammed his SUV with bullets. He later died in a hospital.

The incident came a day after the Punjab government withdrew its security cover.
