Raden Ajeng Kartini was born in Jepara, Central Java. On April 21, 1879. Raden Ajeng Kartini was a female emancipation figure. Her goal is to improve the status of Indonesian women. So that Indonesian women have the same rights as men.
Kartini wanted to continue her higher education. However, he did not get the blessing of his parents. His hobby is reading books. The books he reads are books about women. In 1903 Kartini opened a girls’ school in Jepara. In 1913 Kartini founded a low school. The school was named Kartini School. The school is for girls.
Kartini’s letters were written from 1899–1904. Also collected and edited by Mr. Jaeques Henry Abendanon. The book was published in 1911. The collection of letters bears the title From darkness to light (After rain comes sunshine).
The book was translated into Indonesian. His book was translated by Armyn Pane. It was also translated into Sundanese by Sacadibrata. On September 17, 1904 Kartini died. At that time Kartini was 25 years old. His services are so great that we celebrate Kartini Day every April 21st.
