A neighbor recalled the dramatic moment as he sped to the scene of Anne Heche’s car accident seconds after the horrific accident.
David Manpearl heard Heche’s car hurtling down Mar Vista Street at speeds of up to 140 km/h before crashing into a family home.
Manpearl’s doorbell camera captured video of Heche’s Mini Clubman speeding down South Walgrove Avenue, a normally quiet street, before a loud crash was heard seconds later as the actress lost control of her vehicle.
Manpearl’s home office looks across his front yard onto the quiet residential street about five houses down from where Heche fell.
Neighbor David Manpearl heard Anne Heche’s car zooming down Mar Vista Street at speeds of up to 140 km/h before crashing into a family home
Manpearl estimated the car was traveling at almost 90 miles per hour. Seconds later, the video ends with a loud bang
“Around 10:50 a.m. I heard a car speed past and looked out my window where I saw the car going about 90 mph. Within seconds I heard a loud bang and I ran outside in my flip flops knowing someone was hurt and boy was I right,” he told DailyMail.com in an exclusive interview.
Manpearl, who has lived in the family-friendly neighborhood, said he ran to the intersection where the Mini crashed into the house.
“Before I approached the car, I saw the resident of the home standing barefoot in the rubble. She was in shock and desperately begged me to help her get her pets out of the house. I was able to get the leashes for their two small dogs and escort them out the side of their house. She had her two dogs with her and a turtle.’
Manpearl explained how he then went to the car to help the driver who was trapped between the airbag and the seat.
“I tried to speak to her a couple of times and asked her if she was ok but she didn’t answer so I had to get closer. I was able to open the back door of the car and half crawled inside. This time when I asked her if everything was ok, she said no.”

Actress Anne Heche was intubated in critical condition after crashing her Mini into a garage before speeding away and smashing it into an apartment block where it exploded
The 53-year-old suffered horrific burns in the collision and was recorded being pulled from the mangled wreckage by firefighters after it burst into flames around 11 a.m. in LA
Manpearl asked Heche if she could raise her hand to see if she was okay and she said no and grunted. At that moment, the hero-neighbor felt water dripping on him, only to realize another neighbor sprayed a hose on the car, which had now caught fire and was rapidly spreading over the walls of the house.
“I tried to speak to her again and realized there was smoke and the flames were now on either side of me, so I quickly got out of the car.”
The engineer went to the front of the house and tried to put out the flames with another hose, but found this was useless as the whole house was on fire.
In the meantime, almost ten fire engines had arrived at the scene.
“I was certain the driver was dead. That she was burned. It took firefighters at least 30 minutes to put out the flames, get the car out, and pull her out of the car.”
“I was surprised to find out it was Anne Heche. I think I knew she had problems in the past.”
The owner of the house, along with all her pets, including the turtle, spent the rest of the day at Manpearl’s, where neighbors brought her food and clothes. The LAFD said her entire house is now destroyed.
Smoke could be seen coming from the house after the accident on Friday morning

Shocking images also show the burned-out wreckage of Heche’s Mini Clubman as it was towed out of a hedge opposite a school.
An earlier shot also showed Heche behind the wheel just before the second accident, with what appeared to be a vodka bottle in the cup holder.
The actress, who dated Ellen Degeneres before their split in the late 1990s, suffered severe burns and was intubated but is expected to survive after the horror crash.
Heche was driving her blue Mini Clubman in the Mar Vista area of Los Angeles when she crashed into an apartment complex garage.
Locals rushed to the stricken actress’s aid, with a man urging her to get out of the car. Ignoring the advice, she restarted the ignition, put the car in reverse, and sped down the road at high speed, tires screeching.
Pictures and videos showed her dazed behind the wheel after the first accident when a witness held her in her car with a red-topped bottle.

The horrific accident resulted in the car bursting into flames before Heche was towed away by firefighters and taken to hospital in an ambulance.
The Los Angeles Fire Department said it took 59 firefighters 65 minutes to douse the “persistent flames” and “rescue an adult woman who was found in the vehicle.”
“The house was tons of smoke. I think they used the crane to move the car and get the driver out. It was crazy,” an eyewitness told NBC Los Angeles.
Aerial footage showed her with brutal fire scars on her back after her top appeared to have been shredded from the heat and she writhed on the stretcher in pain.
Firefighters were able to put out the blazes in about an hour, according to Fox 11, but Heche suffered severe burns in the resulting blaze and is now in intensive care.
“If anyone’s still alive in there, that’s a miracle,” Fox 11 reporter Stu Mandel said as he watched from a helicopter hovering over the scene.
Stunning images from the crime scene showed the car’s burned-out hull as it was recovered from the hedge before being towed away by authorities.
“We really had a multifaceted incident here,” said LAFD Capt. Eric Scott. “We had a major traffic accident, we had a woman trapped in it, we had a car that caught fire and then we had a house that caught a major fire which is highlighted in red. It’s destroyed at this point.’
“Her condition prevents doctors from running tests to determine if she was driving under the influence,” TMZ reported.
