In just two months, related videos were viewed a total of 3.4 billion times, nearly double GTA 5 videos.
It was always expected that this would be successful as its director also did the Dark Souls series and renowned author George RR Martin was associated with it.
Did anyone expect that? This popular, but? Not only did it become one of the biggest in the US, it also enjoyed one of the biggest starts on YouTube.
Overall, the Elden Ring videos released within the first 60 days of the game’s release have garnered a staggering 3.4 billion views, according to YouTube results.
That’s almost double what it achieved when it was first launched, and considering how popular this game is, it’s impressive that Elden Ring manages to surpass it that far.
Although the numbers aren’t broken down further, YouTube does highlight certain creators for their posts, such as: B. Fextralife, the most popular fan wiki for guides and tutorials, and VaatiVidya, which focuses on and explains Elden Ring lore and characters.
As for why Elden Ring has proved so popular on YouTube, it’s probably because it was many players’ first FromSoftware game.
Given FromSoftware’s notoriously difficult games, newbies were probably looking for guides on how to play, and the Soulsborne community was there to help with tutorials and playthroughs.
That’s probably why, in terms of videos about specific boss fights, the ones showing Margit the Fell Omen were the most popular, as he’s one of the first really difficult encounters in the game, leading people to start looking for strategies how to beat him.
It’s not surprising that the famous came second, considering it has a reputation for being so difficult that a common strategy is to simply ask another player for help.
Given the success of Elden Ring, we’re surprised that Bandai Namco still hasn’t announced any DLC plans for it. Apart from the occasional new side quest, there was no hint of a new expansion – although all previous From games had them.
has said the game will continue to receive updates for the foreseeable future, but hasn’t elaborated on whether this will include new content or just more patches.
Elden Ring is available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 and PC.
